Four 2-player games that are fun, easy to learn and you’ll want to play them again, and again, and…
This is an intro to why 2-player games are great and what is an easy and replayable game!
1.Codenames Duet – Co-operative
Codenames Duet is tailored for two players working using word association. It’s based on the original board game, Codenames, which has become very popular. You and another player need to give each other clues in the form of one word to advance the game forward until you can guess the names of targets or their ‘code names’ with as few guesses as possible. This is a great game for bonding with another, as you’ll be working with them and their thought processes.

2.STAR REALMS – Player vs Player
Star Realms is the perfect deck builder in an easy and small box-to-go. To win the game, you just need to knock your opponent’s life points to 0 using your ships and battle stations to take them down. What’s awesome about Star Realms is that it’s simple to set up, easy to learn, and each game you play will be different every time. You get to create your own armada of ships – will you be hard hitting? Maybe you’re quick at healing? Perhaps you prefer to whittle your opponent’s card choices down? There’s so many ways to play! Star Realms is a game that I always take with me on trips and coffee shops because of how versatile it is and I can teach it in minutes.

3.Air Land & Sea – Player vs Player
There is more than meets the eye in this little game! It’s easy to play, but there’s so much to explore! In Air, Land, & Sea, two players battle for control over each “theater” of war by playing Battle cards and strategically utilizing their special abilities to gain the advantage. Whoever controls the most theaters, claims victory points, and the player who scores 12 victory points first wins the war! However, you do not have to continue a Battle to the very end. Sometimes, it may be best to withdraw in order to deny your opponent complete victory! In Air, Land, & Sea, a strategic withdraw may lose you the battle to ultimately win the war!

4.One Deck Dungeon – Co-operative
One Deck Dungeon is a card game “roguelike” — a dungeon delve that is different every time, difficult to survive, with a character you build up from scratch. The deck consists of various foes to combat and other perils from the dungeon. Each card, though, depicts both the obstacle to overcome and the potential rewards for doing so. When you defeat a card, you claim it as either experience, an item, or a skill, tucking it under the appropriate side of your character card to show its benefits. The longer you take exploring the dungeon, the deeper you’ll delve, and the difficulty will scale up quickly! If you make it far enough, you’ll have to fight the dungeon boss. Survive, and you’ll be a legend!
